Going good in Ghana
Notes from another planet...I am up and running today. It is 8:45 your time. I have taken photos of my office and the chickens outside. We are located on a dirt road away from paved roads in this teeming city. Almost all people walk here as cabs are not affordable for them; hence, almost all are thin and are accustomed to walking great distances. The street vendors are everywhere and women carry their wares or groceries on their heads with amazing balance. Also, I have been briefed by Kwame' and will get my apt. on Monday.
As told to my family, the U.S. Embassy is less than accomodating and looks like a fortress/prison. Security there has been outsourced. Where are the U.S. Marines that have always guarded these institions for us? Oh, I forgot, our soldiers are busy elsewhere. Why don't we just outsource our entire govt? I know, that is a rhetorical question.
I will likely travel soon so I can meet some of the other media lawyers. The fax machine does not seem to work as well as hoped, but all here is W-I-P and I am being patient. The fax # here is 233 21 221084, if anyone wants to try. I am enjoying the food as it is all spicey and to my liking, much to Kwame's surprise. I am spending the day in the room as I catch up on my email from the office. My new mobile broadband access works, but opening to attachments is very slow. I have photos to send and will try that next, but I do want to get message to all ASAP. Please send comments if you get this and have the time to do so. CHEERS!

At ISLP
Here I am at the International Senior Lawyer Project offices just off Times Square. The photo is taken of me with two of the cheerful people who have been helping me prepare for my project work in Ghana. They are Jesse Walter and Andra Moss. Tomorrow I depart for another world and the start of my work. Tonight I have dinner with my project manager at Sparks Steakhouse , a well known Manhattan restaurant where the godfather of godfathers met his untimely demise. My son Craig and I have been there but we could not then get in for a meal. I will have the early part of tom receiving a final briefing and doing some photos. My next blog will likely be from Ghana. Godspeed to Ghana!
